Meet Margot

The creative soul behind Haus of CuCu, Margot is a curator of cool, a seeker of stories, and a lover of all things timeless with a twist. A proud Routt County local, her passion for leathercraft began in childhood through the local 4-H program—where she first learned to work with her hands and discovered the beauty of craftsmanship.

Through her college years and into post-grad life, Margot continued to hone her skills, turning her lifelong love for leather into a full-time profession in 2014. In 2019, she opened the doors to her storefront in downtown Steamboat Springs, Colorado—a space where bold style meets intentional design.

The name Haus of CuCu is a nod to her Italian heritage. Growing up, Margot’s family affectionately called her “Piccolino CuCu,” a nickname they loosely translated to “little shy one.” What once represented quietness has grown into a brand that celebrates personal expression, handcrafted artistry, and bold individuality.

Margot’s mission is to carry on the appreciation of this dying art, not just by creating high-quality, functional pieces that are built to last a lifetime, but by sharing the process with others. That’s why her workshop is built right into the storefront—you can see where every custom piece is brought to life, up close and personal.

What started as a passion for finding unique pieces has evolved into a lifestyle shop rooted in authenticity, artistry, and self-expression. From vintage-inspired staples to one-of-a-kind accessories, Margot curates each piece with intention, helping you express your individuality with style that speaks for itself.

Welcome to Haus of CuCu. Stay a while, have a drink in the Tack Room, pet our shop dog Bevel, play dress-up, and witness the craft in motion.
